BEGINNER PILATES SUNDAYS 8 - 9 AM With an emphasis on breath, core conditioning and body awareness, PILATES exercise is a safe and highly effective way to stretch, strengthen and streamline your body without building bulk or stressing your joints. This class is a perfect compliment to cardiovascular exercise, sport, rehab and life. Exercises will leave you looking toned, feeling revitalized and moving with ease. 6 week series fee = $90; Practice twice a week = $120 (12 classes). INTERMEDIATE PILATES THURSDAYS 7:30 - 8:30 PM Go beyond the basics as you incorporate intermediate and advanced mat exercises as well as props into your mat workout to deepen your practice, increase strength, tone and endurance. ITSY-BITSY YOGA: TOT (crawling - 24 months) w/ Sarah ~ FREE TRIAL CLASS 1/8 SUNDAYS 4:15 - 5:15 PM ~ 5 WEEK SERIES STARTS JANUARY 15th Itsy Bitsy Yoga for TOTS is a supportive, fun-loving, and active yoga class. As tot's mobility increases, classes offer tot-centric poses that encourage and support their physical explorations. Tots become more confident in their moving bodies as they practice yoga both in and out of class. During a Tots Itsy Bitsy Yoga class crawlers and walkers playfully practice yoga postures while they are standing, sitting up, walking, and jumping. Parents also get to do a little yoga, but no yoga experience is required. Series dates: 1/15, 1/22, 2/5, 2/12 & 2/19 (no class 1/29). Series fee = $75 or $18 to drop-in. ITSY-BITSY YOGA: BABY (newborn - crawling) w/ Sarah ~ FREE TRIAL CLASS 1/9 MONDAYS 11:30 - 12:15 pm ~ 5 WEEK SERIES STARTS JANUARY 16th Baby Itsy Bitsy Yoga classes contain dozens of unique yoga postures designed to support baby’s development.Benefits may include:deepen the parent/child bond, help baby sleep longer and better, improve baby’s digestion, relieve fussiness and colic, discover ways to enhance your baby’s motor development, strengthen the immune system, and encourage neuromuscular development. During a Baby Itsy Bitsy Yoga class, babies enjoy yoga while on their backs, tummies, or held in loving arms.For parents, this class is a special opportunity to meet other moms, get support, and learn about baby’s emerging personality. Most of the yoga we do in Itsy Bitsy Yoga is for baby, but you will also learn breathing and relaxation techniques as you practice a bit of yoga yourself. No yoga experience is required. STRESS MANAGEMENT & THE PRACTICE OF MINDFULNESS MEDITATION: AN INTRO CLASS w/ Denise Koelsch WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 11th AND/OR JANUARY 25th ~ 7:00 - 8:30 PM Drawing from the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn, Vipassana or Insight Meditation and "pranayama," Denise Koelsh offers two introductory meditation classes. Using discussion and experiential approaches, participants explore body awareness, meditation and mindfulness. Workshop fee = $15/FREE for returning participants to Denise's meditation class. MOM & BABY YOGA (6 weeks - crawling) w/ Marnie ~ FREE TRIAL CLASS 1/13 FRIDAYS 10:15 - 11:30 AM ~ 6 WEEK SESSION STARTS 1/20 This class is designed to nurture your bond between you and your baby, fight off "baby blues," improve your posture, stretch and relax as you let go of all the aches and pains of the postpartum body, strengthen and tone particularly abdominals and pelvic floor muscles, increase your energy, learn relaxation techniques and introduce yourself to a parenting community. In addition, help your baby sleep better, assist with digestion, colic and fussiness, increase neuromuscular and motor development, strengthen muscles, develop social and play skills, assist babies natural development with tummy time, crawling, walking, nurture and bond between parent and child. (Dads, Partners, and other care givers are welcome too!). Class dates: 1/20, 1/27, 2/3, 2/10, 2/17 & 2/24. 6 week series fee = $105 or $20 drop-in. HEALTHLY HIPS, NECK & SHOULDERS WORKSHOP w/ Marnie FRIDAY, JANUARY 13th ~ 6:30 - 8:30 PM Relieve tension from the neck, shoulders, back and hips in this uniquely sequenced class using both active and restorative postures. Yoga asana is designed to relax the body and calm the nervous system which alleviates distractions of the mind. Leave feeling calm, clear and rejuvenated!!! Every member of the family: parents, siblings, friends, grandparents and caring adults can get involved and experience a fun and playful way to build family unity with basic yoga postures, breathing exercises, games, creative movement, visualizations, and play that involves energizing the body, calming the mind and strengthening the spirit. STRESS MANAGEMENT & THE PRACTICE OF MINDFULNESS MEDITATION w/ Denise Koelsch WEDNESDAYS 7 - 9 PM ~ 8 WEEK SERIES STARTS 2/2 - 4/4
Drawing from the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn, Vipassana or Insight Meditation and meditation from the yogic tradition called "pranayama," this class uses both discussion and experiential approaches, to explore body awareness, meditation and mindfulness. Topics of discussion include working through resistance and obstacles to the practice, establishment of a practice, and understanding the techniques and processes.Through the practice of meditation people find relief from stress, worry and pain. But meditation offers so much more. Through meditation, people can experience what Eckhart Tolle calls the "Now." He writes "The more you live in the Now, the more you sense the simple yet profound joy of Being and the sacredness of all life." Denise Koelsch LICSW a psychotherapist, has been working in the field of counseling for 20 years and has a private practice at her home at 121 New Balch St. in Beverly. She has been practicing meditation/mindfulness for 35 years, has been leading meditation circles for 8 years and has been a student of Shamanism for 8 years.
