Class Descriptions
Balanced Body (Beginner)
This is a unique class which will focus on strengthening and balancing the body from the center out! Each class in the session will be comprised of elements taken from Yoga, Stott Pilates Matwork, breathing and meditation. Progression in this class will lead to increased core strength, body alignment and awareness...find a more balanced body, lifestyle and you!

Balanced Body (Intermediate)
For students looking to go beyond the basics. Students are familiar with Pilates concepts such as the basic principles of alignment, imprint and neutral spine/pelvis and how to engage their transverse abdominals in order to stabilize their core. With this understanding, yoga postures are refined and explored more thoroughly. With greater insight to the basics, we can apply that knowledge towards breaking new grounds and exploring more intermediate postures.

Gentle Transformation
Gentle Transformation Yoga is a blended body-mind-spirit approach to Yoga, breathing and relaxation. The emphasis is on the experience of BEING PRESENT, transcending fear, judgment and negative belief. Students are guided gently and lovingly through movement, breath and emptying of the mind so as to come into peaceful contact with the Inner Self. The still full-body guided relaxation at the end of class provides a time for complete surrender, healing and revitalization. The safety created and gentle movements offered in this class make it an ideal setting for beginners or anyone who would benefit from an accepting non-competitive environment.

Hatha Yoga
What most people refer to as simply "yoga" is actually Hatha Yoga.  This particular system of yoga is the most popular one, and it is from which several other styles of yoga originated including Power, Bikram, Vinyasa, Anusara, Kripalu, Iyengar, Astanga and Kundalini. The word "hatha" comes from the Sanskrit terms "ha" meaning "sun" and "tha" meaning "moon". Thus, Hatha Yoga is known as the branch of Yoga that unites pairs of opposites referring to the positive (sun) and negative (moon) currents in the system. Hatha Yoga tries to achieve balance between body and mind, as well as attempts to free the more subtle spiritual elements of the mind through physical poses or Asanas, breathing techniques or Pranayama, and meditation.

Iron Yoga (yoga with weights)
Combine two powerful exercise systems, yoga and strength training, to build core strength, create muscular strength, increase flexibility, improve balance and build bone density.  By using weights, you can accelerate the benefits of yoga, improve your bones, look and feel great!

Pilates
With an emphasis on breath, core conditioning and body awareness, PILATES exercise is a safe and highly effective way to stretch, strengthen and streamline your body without building bulk or stressing your joints.  This class is a perfect compliment to cardiovascular exercise, sport, rehab and life.  Exercises will leave you looking toned, feeling revitalized and moving with ease.

Prenatal Yoga
A class specifically designed to support mother and baby throughout the changes of her pregnancy. It is a safe and effective way for women to care for themselves during pregnancy and prepare for childbirth. In this class you will gently stretch and strengthen your body, increasing your energy and vitality through mindful movement and yoga postures. You will also cultivate your capacity to breathe freely, release tension and relax deeply. This class is designed to help women develop trust in themselves and in their ability to give birth. Come and enjoy the company and support of other pregnant women while you nurture yourself and your relationship with your baby!

Rusty Hinges Yoga
This class is for those of you who are new to or have been away from yoga for awhile, or perhaps have gone through an injury and are looking to ease your way back into practice.  As our bodies age, we recognize that same habitual patterns and behaviors are no longer serving us well.  Through this class we will re-train our bodies and our minds to gently challenge our limitations and cultivate new ways of living in our magnificient bodies more fully and respectfully.  Join us for a journey of healing and self-discovery.

Slow Flow Vinyasa Yoga
Make a new commitment to yourself to increase strength in your body and within yourself. In this class, a series of yoga postures is linked together by the breath. Class often begins with breathing exercises to quiet the mind, followed by a moderate to vigorous sequence of postures designed to open tight spaces, increase flexibility, and build strength in your body as well as your spirit. This class is open to students of all yoga abilities, as modifications will be offered, with and without yoga props such as blocks, blankets, and straps.

Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa is derived from the Sanskrit term nyasa, which means "to place" and the prefix vi, "in a special way" as in linking one yoga pose or asana to the next.  Class starts slowly with a strong concentration on the breath; then class builds momentum, through a series of flowing Sun Salutations and standing poses that focus on form and alignment to build strength, stability, endurance and encourage better posture.  Heat is established internally, as mindful self awareness and attention to the body, nourishes core muscles.  The class moves from standing sequences to a series of seated, prone, supine and inverted postures designed to increase flexibility and build core strength.   Students conclude with relaxation and meditation, leaving the mind calm, the body rejuvenated, and spirit elevated.  Class is conducted in a warm, yet comfortable room temperature of 75 degrees.

Yoga & Meditation
Asana practice will focus on releaseing tension and blocked energy in various parts of the body. Deep relaxation will relax, rejuvinate and restore the systems of the body. Pranayama breathing exercises to cleanse the energtic body, and calm the nervous system. Meditation practice to experience mental clarity and inner peace.

Yoga for Athletes
All great athletes cross train to increase their competitive edge. Yoga for Athletes is the ideal complement for any sports enthusiast looking to build strength, stamina, and flexibility. Whether a novice or experienced yoga practitioner, this all level class will increase performance and help reduce the risk of sports related injuries. Sequences will focus primarily on traditional Sun Salutations which are specifically designed to "wake up" and lengthen major muscle groups in the back, chest, shoulders, hips, quadriceps and hamstrings. Breath work will encourage focus and concentration as well as increase lung capacity to fine tune your cardiovascular system.
